German is one of the world’s major languages and is the most widely spoken first language in the European Union. Apart from Germany, German is primarily spoken in Austria, Switzerland, and Liechtenstein. German-speaking communities can be found in France, Belgium, Denmark, Italy, and Poland. Outside the European continent, German Speaking people are present in the U.S, Canada Australia, and South America.
Today German is a modern European language and also a language of Science and Technology. German as a modern European Language has wide scope in the field of Medicine, Engineering, Higher Education, Commerce, Tourism and Hospitality Industry. The Textbook of German for class XI was prepared by considering the problems that the native speakers of Malayalam are likely to confront with. The activities included in the textbook will give ample opportunities for listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The objective is to create a strong foundation on which further aspects of the language can be dealt with.
The SCERT textbooks are developed in a series of workshops organized by the SCERT in which a team of teachers from various Higher Secondary Schools, Colleges, and Universities was involved.
